Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism Policy for Publications
Our Policy outlines the guidelines and procedures for identifying and addressing plagiarism in submissions to our medical journal. Upholding ethical standards in research and publication is paramount to maintaining the integrity of the scientific community. Authors are expected to adhere to these principles and ensure that all submissions are original, appropriately cited, and plagiarism-free.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the act of presenting another person's work, ideas, or words as one's own without proper attribution. It includes, but is not limited to:
- Copying text, figures, tables, or images without adequate citation.
- Paraphrasing substantial parts of another work without credit.
- Failing to acknowledge the source of information, data, or concepts.
- Submitting a manuscript with content from previously published work without appropriate citation or permission.
- Self-plagiarism involves reusing substantial parts of one's own previously published work without acknowledgment or appropriate citation.
Author Responsibilities Authors are responsible for ensuring that:
- All submitted manuscripts are original and have not been published elsewhere.
- Proper citations are provided for all sources, including data, ideas, and direct quotations.
- Any overlap with previous publications is clearly disclosed and appropriately cited.
- Permissions are obtained for the use of copyrighted material.
Journal Screening Procedures All submissions to the journal will undergo a plagiarism screening process using plagiarism detection software. The editorial team will assess the similarity report and determine whether any instances of plagiarism have occurred.
Consequences of Plagiarism If plagiarism is detected at any stage of the publication process, the following actions may be taken:
- Minor Overlap: Authors may be asked to revise the manuscript and provide proper citations for minor instances of plagiarism.
- Significant Plagiarism: The manuscript will be rejected outright for more significant cases. Authors may also be prohibited from submitting future work to the journal for a specified period.
- Post-Publication Discovery: If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal will issue a retraction notice, and the article will be removed from the journal's database. The authors' institutions may also be notified.
Appeals and Clarifications Authors have the right to appeal any decision regarding plagiarism. Appeals must be submitted in writing to the editorial office, providing detailed explanations and evidence to support the appeal. The editorial board will review the case and make a final decision.
Education and Awareness The journal is committed to promoting awareness about plagiarism and ethical publishing practices. Authors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these guidelines and seek clarification when needed.
Acknowledgment of Policy By submitting a manuscript to the journal, authors acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to comply with this Plagiarism Policy.
Updates to the Policy This Policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes in ethical standards and industry practices. Authors are encouraged to review the Policy regularly to stay informed about any updates.
This Policy aims to ensure fairness, transparency, and integrity in the publication process while fostering trust among authors, reviewers, and readers.
